Dear Pastor:
I would like to introduce you to a new fraternal organization for high
school students. Phi Omega is a co-ed high school service fraternity
created to bring organized, student led prayer into high schools. The
Phi Omega ministry is two-fold. The first is the campus prayer ministry.
Chapter members will gather daily or weekly on campus to pray before
school. The structure of the meetings will be to gather the intentions
to be prayed for (in today’s schools there is no shortage of intentions
with teen pregnancy, drug/alcohol abuse, school violence etc). The
second ministry has a charity objective. Chapters will be asked to
complete at least one community service project per academic year to
benefit the community at large.
Phi-O is for ALL students that profess a belief in Jesus Christ as the
Son of God and wish to make their school a better place through prayer
for their peers, teachers and community. Like social and service
fraternities found on most college campuses, Phi-O will bring together
students from multiple faiths with a common goal. Formed as a national
organization, students from Connecticut to California will be lifting up
their schools in prayer. Individual chapters will be established at any
high school where there is interest and three student volunteers willing
to serve as founding officers. The offices will consist of President,
Vice-President & Secretary. After a chapter’s initial year, officers
will be elected to continue the chapter in perpetuity. There is no cost
for membership.
What can you do to help? We are requesting your help to get the word out
to youth directors & other pastors. We are keenly aware that youth
workers are busy with current youth activities. Time saving tools are
available via this website such as a ghostwritten church bulletin. We
also have an advocate program where a volunteer from your church can
sign up via the advocate link and follow the simple instructions to get
your own youth group involved with Phi Omega at their school.
As with any new organization, in order for us to fulfill our stated
mission, funding is our most immediate concern. Rather than asking for
an offering from the pulpit, I respectfully request you allow an
advertisement be placed in your church bulletin, website or both. In
this manner your parishioners can visit our website and make a donation
if they so choose. We have several levels of giving with the most
prominent being a dollar-a-month or a twelve-dollar one time donation.
We are praying for and believing in one million Christian supporters
nationwide to partner with us at this level of giving. Of course they
can give less or more based on their situation. While we believe
organized school prayer is long overdue, we do not want to impede on the
important work that your church is already doing. We do hope your church
will partner with us and help put God firmly back into U.S. high schools
in a positive, proactive way.
God Bless,
Mark Evans
